This home of grand proportions incorporates some of the best elements of traditional farmhouse design.
This large country farm house is built for its residents to enjoy mesmerising” country views, and to showcase a collection of furniture gathered from around the world.
Oamaru stone block and a Coloursteel roof are used on the exterior, while inside, a high 4.2 metre stud in the dining and living rooms create dramatic spaces against which to display treasures. Beautiful polished kwila floors feature in many areas of the home and were well worth the work it took to lay them. Rimu doors and Timberview window frames also add to the Kiwi homestead feel.
One wing of the home features a master bedroom with traditional open fire, en-suite and walk-in wardrobe, and alongside it, three guest rooms, also with en-suites. There is a woodburner in the library with a bespoke wood storage area in the garage to service it. This, and the second Woodburner located in the kitchen, also help to heat the water.
The second wing houses the living room, with doors opening out onto a verandah. Cooking in the spacious farmhouse kitchen is a pleasure — a beautiful outlook, modern appliances and a separate scullery make this a relaxing space. A huge laundry and study, and a vibrant colour scheme incorporating reds, blues and greys complete the home.
