Hunter Hills Drive

project description

Future perfect – Owners can eventually downsize

With considerable help from builder Garry Wilson, the owners of this three-level house near Timaru created a home unique to themselves and their present and future needs.

The first level comprises three big bedrooms, wine cellar, laundry and a storage room already plumbed and wired as a kitchen so that the entire floor can eventually become fully self-contained; the room with outdoor access, presently used as workshop, could be reinvented as an office or home business. A paved outdoor living area at the front is covered by the balcony, with a gas fire, that surrounds the open-plan kitchen-living area on the third level.

Up here you’ll also find the office, master bedroom with massive walk-in wardrobe and en suite, additional toilet and a European-style kitchen equipped with 2.8m-long CaesarStone island bench and butler’s pantry. The lighting plan and gorgeous feature lights are the work of the owner’s late son, and the 392sq m house is fully wired for sound, data and the future. A large internal access garage is housed in the middle level. The exterior is finished with white plaster, grey aluminium joinery, cedar and schist, and its strong vertical and horizontal lines are repeated throughout the mainly black and white interior.
